Finally.. my postponed online journal for Texas!
I am currently still in PR though!
I visited Austin, Texas July 2nd, 2021 – July 5th, 2021 – a Fourth of July weekend!
I’ve been to Dallas, Texas multiple times but, Austin attracted me more in many ways. Is it because Seattle and Austin would be recognized more similar than Dallas. Probably?
Sixth Street or better known by locals as “dirty six” was my favorite nightlife spot! At a certain time, the street blocks off cars from entering so that people can walk along the street, bar hop, fulfill the “drunchies” (grab a quick bite to eat), chat with friends and simply have fun!
The perfect combo great food, great vibes, nightlife.. etc.
Rainey St – a must visit nightlife spot that is fairly close fr Sixth street. On this street, houses transformed into numerous different styled-bars. Here you have live music, next door may have a slide, the next spot will have a huge, projected screen for sports, and then another spot may have a more elegant or classy decor. I love how you can differentiate them.
The exciting part of Austin – my main source of transportation – electric scooters. Food spots, river swimming, murals, all fairly near (and not costly). Here in PR, it is expensive to use the electric scooters compared to Austin!!
At Barton Springs pool, you could enter a swimming area that requires you to pay or you are able to hang out anywhere up along the creek aswell. Many people would pick a spot along the river and dip in. At a bridge, others would jump off too!
There were also multiple speak-easy spots visited. One of them was at our hostel!! Why wouldn’t you want to peak into a secret, retro-styled bar?
A bit about food spots and their direct links:

Veracruz – amazing tacos!! They also have a nutritious smoothie section.
Gus’s Fried Chicken – my favorite fried chicken spot. The best crunch, crisp on the outside and perfectly juicy on the inside. I am literally melting in my seat just thinking bout it ❤
Between Terry Black’s Barbecue, Salt Lick Barbecue and The Original Black’s Barbeque. The best one was Terry’s Black Barbecue, the wait wasn’t too long (even though there was a big line) but they also offered beer while waiting. So we did (: the meat was tender (literally fell off the bone the first bite), best in flavoring, and the sides were equally as great. I often found that the other two spots, the meat was good but not as tender and a side dish would be “meh”— meaning, would’ve been better if I didn’t try it. The good thing about Salt Lick is.. that it is all you can eat. The location was less convenient, so we had to Uber there. Terry’s had the best flavor, side combos, and waiting time.

I feel like I’m at a meat dungeon
