Saigon, Vietnam

City home to my dad.

At the Da Nang International Airport, I messaged my aunt via Whatsapp. I made sure she was ready for me and Tim to arrive. Arriving and looking out the plane window in the night sky, there was so many lights in the big, bustling city.

Tim and I took a grab car ride there. It’s funny because when I arrived, my aunt couldn’t quite remember the last time I been to visit. It was so many years ago and my other aunt sent photos as a reminder.

Another day, we also got to Facetime my aunt, who is currently in the states to catch up for a bit as a whole.

By morning, the first meal Tim and I had was Bun Oc – a vietnamase escargot noodle soup.

We (luckily and appreciated) that we got to use my aunt’s motorbike to tour & explore. Tim LOVED it, I could feel his adrenaline rush from just hitting peak traffic and cruising over sidewalks.

some areas visited:

  • Saigon Central Post Office – monumental and completed in 1891
  • Ho Chi Minh City Book Street
  • Saigon Square – shopping center
  • Bui Vien Walking Street – night life street + visited the tattoo
kitty fr vietnam, she is a regular at the tattoo shop (:

Oc Bien restaurant 33 Đ. Điện Biên Phủ, Phường 15, Bình Thạnh, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh 700000, Vietnam – met with Tim’s friend, came here multiple times to drink local beer and have tasty, large oysters

also enjoyed a home cooked meal dinner at home of fried wings (korean-viet fusion) paired with local beer. Chef James (tim’s friend that he met in Australia, & small world – he is a cousin to one of my friends in San Diego, California)

snapshots of museum + dinner @ home, catching up with friends & family

On one of the casual days, Tim and I enjoyed facials, scalp/hair treatment, and foot treatment from neighborhood salon that my aunt goes to.

By March 25, 2023 – Massage day with auntie and Tim. Below are two lil doggos that are regulars at this spa.. (:
